Hello! I need a help with the HEARTBEAT database. I have dowloaded both baseline and follow up files. I cannot find CPAP data such as average daily usage, average therapeutic PAP pressures, residual AHI and % of days with usage>4h/day. I mean, I found some of these variables in this website but I cannot locate them in the excel files. Any hint? Also, can I double check with some of you that the following variables have not been recorded?

  • diagnosis of heart failure
  • current treatment at baseline with ARBs
  • 3%ODI and 4%ODI at baseline sleep study
  • time spent with SpO2<90%

Many thanks in advance

Martino

Hey Pengom,

Thanks for checking out the site. The PAP therapy variables (e.g. https://sleepdata.org/datasets/heartbeat/variables?folder=Measurements%2FPAP+Therapy) only exist in the heartbeat-followup-dataset-0.4.0.csv dataset.

I don't think there was an explicit question about heart failure. The closest would probably be dxheartattack.

From what I can tell in the data processing code, "ACE Inhibitors or ARBs" were included in the aceinhibitor variable.

I don't think the sleep scoring software output ODI values. There are some variables about number of desaturations of different magnitudes, but I'm not sure it's possible to compute an ODI3/ODI4.

Time spent with SpO2<90%: satlt90p

Best,

Mike

Thank you Mike for your prompt reply, I have only one remaining issue: in the file heartbeat-followup-dataset-0.4.0.csv there are no PAP variables. For instance, I have tried to search for the variable "theravgusageall" with no luck. Any hint? Thanks again for your help

The columns appear to be there in the 'followup' CSV when I look in Excel or in a text editor. E.g.

What are you using to open the file?

Found them thank you! So, just to clarify:

  • in order to calculate % of days with usage>4h/day I can do thergooddays/thertotaldays correct?
  • in order to calculate average daily usage I can do theravgusageall/thertotaldays correct? Also I believe average therapeutic PAP pressures are missing

Yes, those calculations look correct.

I made a note to include an average therapeutic PAP pressure variable in the future.
