Variable 'vital' in SHHS dataset

Hello there

I'm working on a sensitivity analysis for the missing data at follow-up 2 (SHHS2). And then I found the variable 'vital' from the CVD outcomes dataset, which shows that 1,305 ppl were dead. But at which timepoint is this? If this is not at follow-up 2, but after, is there another variable that would tell me how many people were dead at follow-up 2?

Hey Winda,

CVD outcomes were tracked up through 2010/2011 for most subjects, so the dates of death (CENSDATE) have a very wide range. I don't think we are going to find a variable that explicitly says "this participant was dead before SHHS2". Maybe you could try looking at the minimum amount of time between SHHS1 and SHHS2 (1,731 days?) and then assume that everyone who died before that amount of time had elapsed did not have the opportunity to participate in SHHS2 (hence explaining the missing follow-up data)? Just spitballing here.

Let me know if I can try to help clarify further.

Mike

Thanks Mrueschman! Great suggestion! I'll think about it.
