How to calculate AHI and RDI?

Hello, Im trying to calculate AHI with hypopnea 3% and AHI with hypopnea 4%. in the annotation files I don't see information on what desaturation was each hypopnea.

I'm also trying to understand how you calculated each one of the values in the main table (like hrembp, hrop, canop, and etc). is there a script that can explain this calculation?

Lastly, RDI should be Hypopnea+Apnea+RERA, but I don't see any mentioning of the RERAs in your indices list and not in the annotation files.

Thank you very much Zozo

Thanks for using the site. Unfortunately, the Compumedics Profusion software did not provide "linking" information between respiratory events, desaturation events, and arousal events in the XML annotations. I discussed this with another user in this thread, which you may find helpful: https://sleepdata.org/forum/xml-annotations-do-not-match-ahi/

The variables like hrembp, hrop, canop, etc. were derived by the Profusion scoring software and output to the sleep study report.

You are correct that RDI is a misnomer in many of the NSRR datasets since RERAs were not generally scored. My understanding is that the definition of RDI has shifted over time, e.g., in the mid-1990's when the Sleep Heart Health Study (SHHS) was conducted the RDI was equivalent to what we now call the AHI. The RDI label stuck in the data processing that was re-used from dataset to dataset.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm looking for a dataset with RERA's annotation. do you know if I can find it in any of those datasets? HCHS MESA SHHS (part 2) Stages

There aren't any RERAs scored in HCHS/MESA/SHHS.

I did a very cursory check of some STAGES (https://sleepdata.org/datasets/stages/) PSG annotations and I came across a couple RERA instances, however they may not have been scored across all the sites. Each site followed its own clinical scoring guidelines.
