Negative or Positive?

Dear all,

This might have been discussed here before, but I'd like to make sure.

In the clinical EEG field, the upward direction of EEG is called "negative" and downward "positive." However, it seems that there is confusion in the research field: The majority call the upward "positive," although some people use it in the same way as in clinical settings.

Is there any consensus regarding the NSRR data? I assume "negative to positive zero-crossing" in LUNA means down to up. Is my understanding correct?
