17.8.7 Step 7: Attach Nasal Cannula

This is clear tubing which is positioned directly in the flow of air just under the thermistor.

  1. Tape the thermistor and cannula together to prevent displacement. The nasal cannula should be placed in the nares of the nostrils.
  2. Secure in place by looping wire around ear and taping wires over cheek.
  3. Make sure that the beads from the thermistor are not inside the patient’s nose. Place the beads in the flow of air from the nose.
  4. Bend the wires as needed.
