3.4 Resting Blood Pressure Training and Certification
All CHAT personnel performing resting blood pressure measurements on CHAT
participants must be certified in performing BP according to the CHAT BP protocol.
3.4.1 Certification Requirements

Review BP CD
Obtain Resting BP following the key elements of the CHAT protocol on 3
volunteers. The certifying individual may be: 1) a previously certified
research staff member such as the CHAT study coordinator if applicable
(preferred); 2) the site PI or local BP expert who has reviewed the CHAT
BP protocol and is familiar with all aspects of the protocol (CHAT
research coordinator).
Obtain 3 measurements for SBP and DBP on each volunteer with
certifying individual observing technique and making measurements
concurrently using a double headed stethoscope.
Validate Completion: All elements identified on Resting Blood Pressure
Training Certification Module must be completed; 9 measurements (3
replicates on 3 individuals) and each concurrent measurement should be
recorded and agree within 2 mm Hg compared to reference standard
(using a double headed stethoscope).
