4.4 Urine Collection and Processing

4.4.1 Supplies

The following supplies should be stocked in the patient’s room for urine collection:

• Antiseptic wipes
• Sterile specimen container

The following additional supplies should be stocked in the processing area:

• 1M Acetic Acid
• Barcode ID labels for specimens and final aliquots*
• 4.0 mL Sarstedt cryovials
• 10.0 mL Krackler cryovials with yellow and green cap inserts
• Sterile bottle for urine collection
• 10% bleach solution or approved disinfectant
• Lab mats and wipes
• Pipets 3 mL, 9mL and 25 mL volumes
• Refrigerator
• -70° C freezer (or -20° C freezer and dry ice)
